In 2021, Emory’s Goizueta Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center again received the D Jones Family Charitable Foundation’s most significant donation to help develop the VisMET (Visuospatial Memory Eye-Tracking Test) technology further. The goal is to screen people for memory issues, identifying those with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or Alzheimer’s disease. The task was designed to be more efficient, easier to administer, and more enjoyable than current tests.
According to its website, the Goizueta Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC), founded in 2005, is one of 27 active centers in the nation supported by the National Institutes of Health. The goal of these centers is to bring scientists together to facilitate their research and help learn more about Alzheimer’s and related diseases. It is also committed to the education of health care professionals, persons with Alzheimer’s disease, their families, and their communities to aid in understanding, diagnosis and treatment of these illnesses.
