The D Jones Family Charitable Foundation is proud to continue its support of Canine Companions for the fifth straight year. Wounded veterans, children, and adults with disabilities benefit from Canine Companions for Independence® trained assistance dogs. According to its website, “the assistance dogs we breed, raise and train aren’t just the ears, hands and legs of their human partners. They’re also goodwill ambassadors and often, their best friends. They open up new opportunities and new possibilities and spread incredible joy. We unite people with dogs in a powerful program that leads to greater independence and confidence.”

Pictured here is one of our supported dogs, Georgia. Georgia was paired with Renee in Birmingham, Alabama, who works with the Criminal Division of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Renee is a Victim Assistance Coordinator, primarily working with victims of violent crime, assisting with navigating the criminal justice system, court advocacy, and child forensic interviewing.
