The D Jones Family Charitable Foundation continues its Appalachian Initiative with a 2019 grant that continues its support for the DeWitt Elementary School—located in the Stinking Creek Community of Knox County, Kentucky. Like many rural communities in Appalachia, the people of Stinking Creek face challenging social issues such as poverty, domestic abuse and violence, substance abuse, substandard housing and more. The funds are earmarked for an ambitious and integrative landscape project for the school grounds that will both beautify the campus and educate the students.
